For the first forty minutes, the Americans were stymied by a great goaltender. Trailing 1-0 after two periods, the US got on the board just 19 seconds into the third to tie the game. That momentum, however, was short-lived as Finland rallied by scoring three goals, winning 4-1. Both teams are now 1-1 in the World Junior tournament.

Although it was Kings’ prospect Chris Gibson’s team that won today, Sami Aittokallio was in the net for Finland’s victory today and he played outstanding as the Finnish redeemed themselves after an 8-1 drubbing against Canada just two days ago.

For the Americans, neither Derek Forbort or Kevin Gravel found themselves on the scoresheet in the loss.

While Gibson and the Fins next prepare for a date with 0-2 Denmark, the US must now try to rebound as they face the Czech Republic. Both games will be played on Friday the 30th.
