The Los Angeles Kings have been keeping busy signing their top prospects and this week was certainly no exception as on Tuesday, they signed defenseman Nicolas Deslauriers to a three-year entry-level contract.
The 20-year-old Deslauriers was a third-round pick of the Kings in 2009 and just finished up his junior career in the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League with the Gatineau Olympiques who reached the league final where they lost to the eventual Memorial Cup champion Saint John Sea Dogs.
The 6’1, 200-pounder collected 43 points (13 goals, 30 assists) in 48 regular-season games this past season and went on to add 20 points (5 goals, 15 assists) in 24 playoff games.
Now, with his new contract, Deslauriers will join a series of new faces in the Kings organization. Whether he ends up in Manchester, with Ontario of the ECHL or wherever is still up for debate and, at this point, much too early to speculate but the fact of the matter is that Nicolas Deslauriers is now officially a member of the Los Angeles Kings organization.
Good luck to him.
