While we patiently await for an end to the NHL lockout, there is plenty of hockey being played elsewhere, including the Los Angeles Kings’ AHL affiliate, the Manchester Monarchs. After kicking off the 2012-13 season with a 2-0 record, the Monarchs are set to make it three-straight as they play their home-opener tonight against the Providence Bruins.

Manchester is already 1-0 against the Bruins this season as they were victorious in Providence last Friday thanks to a 3-1 score. The Monarchs won again the following day as they beat the Devils in Albany by a score of 2-1.

So far, defenseman David Kolomatis is leading the way for the Monarchs with two goals while a number of players have helped out with multiple assists. Defenseman Jake Muzzin leads the way in the points department with his three assists while Andrew Bodnarchuk, Brandon Kozun and Tyler Toffoli each have a pair of assists thus far.

Expect Martin Jones to get the start in goal as he’s played all 120 minutes for the Monarchs to start the season. Jones is 2-0 (obviously) with a 1.00 goals-against average to go along with a save percentage of .962.

Should be good!
