Game 8 (3-2-2)

The Los Angeles Kings arrived in Hamburg, Germany yesterday where they will play their final preseason game tomorrow against the host Freezers.

Head coach Terry Murray announced yesterday that Drew Doughty will play as will Slava Voynov. As per agreement between the two clubs, the Kings and Freezers will dress 22 players each. With that, the Kings will dress eight defensemen so they have the luxury of letting the aforementioned Doughty ease his way back into the lineup after ending his holdout just three days prior. So, tomorrow’s game will give #8 a chance to play without throwing him into the fire right away.

Despite being able to play tomorrow night, the aforementioned Voynov will likely be sent to Manchester once the preseason comes to a close, according to Terry Murray. A final decision has yet to be made but it appears that that’s what going to happen, especially considering there’s very little room on the blueline since Doughty’s re-signing.

During practice this morning, Murray said that Dustin Penner was not feeling well. As a result, Penner’s status for tomorrow’s game is uncertain.

Although Jeff Zatkoff on the trip with the team, it will be Jonathan Quick and Jonathan Bernier set to play evenly tomorrow with Quick getting the start in goal.

It’s an early start to the game as it begins at 10am PST (1pm EST) tomorrow. Let’s hope the Kings can generate some momentum in this final tune-up before the regular season kicks off on Friday.

Enjoy the game!
