Previewing the Los Angeles Kings' 2013-14 season:
Game 1 @ Minnesota
October 3, 2013
5pm PST (8pm EST)
After a long few months in addition to some off-season changes, the Los Angeles Kings are set to drop the puck tonight as they open their 2013-14 season in St. Paul to take on the Minnesota Wild.
Tonight will mark the first of three meetings between the two clubs this season with the second matchup not coming until January 6.
Last season, the Wild won their season series with the Kings 2-1-0 with both wins coming on home ice. While Minnesota looks to continue their home-ice winning ways against the silver-and-black, the Kings are hoping they can return to early 2011-12 form when they had a fast start to the season – and a big way to get that going would be a victory in a building they haven’t won since February 28, 2012.
As we are now under 12 hours until the official drop of the puck fans in Los Angeles (and Minnesota) are rightfully excited for their respective teams to get their seasons under way.
The last two No. 8 seeds in the West face off tonight at the Xcel Energy Center with Jonathan Quick and Nicklas Backstrom slated as the starting goaltenders.
It should be a great way to kick things off.
Enjoy the game!
