Previewing the Los Angeles Kings' 2013-14 season:
Game 38 vs. Dallas
December 23, 2013
7:30pm PST (10:30pm EST)
It is their last game before the Christmas break and the Los Angeles Kings are hoping to enter it on a winning note as they meet the Dallas Stars for the second of three times this season.
The first time these two teams met was back on October 19 when the Kings won 5-2 at Staples Center – but Stars have been on fire as of late.
Of course, the Kings haven’t exactly been cooling off either. With just three regulation losses since Halloween, the silver-and-black are getting a lot of production from many outlets including the duo of Jeff Carter and Dwight King and a defensive unit that is among tops in the league. Then there’s the goaltending situation.
Martin Jones enters Monday night’s contest holding a share of a league-record at 8-0-0 to start a career. Momentum couldn’t be much higher for Jones or the Kings right now.
Both Tyler Seguin and Jamie Benn are leading the Stars in points and goals and if the Kings hope to win their fourth-straight game, they will need to contain the likes of these two. Both have been a significant reason why the Stars have earned points in four of their last five but will look to right the ship after falling in overtime in San Jose on Saturday.
They may not be division rivals anymore but any meeting between the Kings and Stars certainly never lacks any excitement – and Monday should prove to be no exception.
Enjoy the game!
