Previewing the Los Angeles Kings' 2013-14 season:

Game 41 @ Dallas

December 31, 2013

5pm PST (8pm EST)

One night after losing their third-straight, the Los Angeles Kings look to right the ship and end 2013 on a high note as they travel to Dallas to clash with their former divisional rival, the Stars.

This New Year’s Eve matchup will be third and final meeting between the Kings and Stars this season with each team winning by a 5-2 score. However, both previous games were played at Staples Center so we’ll see how this rivalry fares at the American Airlines Center.

Since their last meeting on December 23, both clubs have gone in different directions. Dallas is 4-0-2 in their last six and just two points out of a playoff spot in the West. Much of that recent success is credited to Stars captain Jamie Benn who has three goals in his last three games and four out of his last five outings His play especially should be something the Kings need to watch out for as Benn scored a goal and added an assist en route to his team’s win in Los Angeles eight days ago. Tyler Seguin is also one to watch for as the Kings have not spared by the youngster’s phenomenal maiden campaign in Texas. On the 23rd, Seguin also had a goal and an assist and will look to inflict more damage upon the Kings on Tuesday evening.

Speaking of the Kings, their offense needs to turn it up a notch if they want to get back on the winning track. Their defense and goaltending have both played well, especially on Monday night in Chicago. Despite losing back-to-back decisions, rookie netminder Martin Jones remains impressive as he has allowed just 13 in the 10 games he’s played since being called up from Manchester.

There’s not much else to say but to drop the puck as the Los Angeles Kings and their Kingdom simply want to ring in 2014 on a high note.

Enjoy the game!
