Previewing the Los Angeles Kings' 2013-14 season:

Game 44 vs. Minnesota

January 7, 2014

7:30pm PST (10:30pm EST)

Coming off their resilient finish on Saturday night against the Canucks, the Los Angeles Kings hope to continue their success at home as they play host to the Minnesota Wild on Tuesday night.

This will mark the second of three meetings between the Kings and Wild this season with Los Angeles drawing first blood in St. Paul back on October 3, the opening night of the regular season. In said game, the Kings won 3-2 in the shootout thanks in large part to Jonathan Quick who made 27 saves and two more in the extra session to preserve the victory.

At 22-17-5, Minnesota is tied with Phoenix for the second and final wild card spot in the West and having won two-straight, they only hope to continue that success. However, if the Wild plan to take two points at Staples Center, they will have to do so without the services of captain Mikko Koivu who injured his ankle over the weekend and will miss at least a month of action.

As for the Kings, they ended their five-game slide on Saturday but did welcome back Jonathan Quick who made 28 saves en route to the win. In addition, Jeff Carter scored twice in helping the silver-and-black snap their skid.

While there isn't much in this rivalry for the Kings as there is with the Canucks, this matchup should not prove to be any less exciting.

It's a battle of two teams who have gone 4-6-0 in their last 10 as both teams are looking to keep in the right direction.

Enjoy the game!
