Previewing the Los Angeles Kings' 2013-14 season:
Game 52 @ Anaheim
January 23, 2014
7pm PST (10pm EST)
After starting their road trip with a 1-2-1 mark, the Los Angeles Kings returned to sunny California to close it out against the Anaheim Ducks at the Honda Center.
In what is the final tune-up before the much-anticipated Stadium Series game at Dodger Stadium, the Kings are looking to put an end to their three-game losing streak against the league-best Ducks who boast an overall record of 37-10-5 and a home record of 20-1-2. Despite losing their last game, Anaheim is 8-2-0 in their last ten but lost to Los Angeles at the Honda Center back on December 3 in the shootout.
Thursday's meeting marks the second of five meetings between the two SoCal rivals this season. While many fans are excited for this matchup, most are more so about the second half of this home-and-home series which will be, as previously mentioned, located outdoors at Dodger Stadium on Saturday.
The good news for the Kings is that Jeff Carter has goals in four-straight games while leading the club with 20 goals. The bad news, however, is that Carter has been one of the very few Kings producing as of late. Dustin BRown, Anze Kopitar and Drew Doughty to name three all need to step up their individual games should the silver-and-black hope to get back on the winning streak. As for the Ducks, Ryan Getzlaf is on an eight-game point streak, scoring five goals and seven assists during that stretch. It'll be up to the Kings to stop Anaheim's No. 15 which will hopefully translate into an important two points.
There's never any love lost between these two rivals and Thursday night should not be an exception.
Enjoy the game!
