Previewing the Los Angeles Kings' 2011-12 season:
Game 54 @ Florida
February 9, 2012
4:30pm PST (7:30pm EST)
Tonight is the fourth of Los Angeles’ six-game road trip as they face a Florida Panthers squad looking to rebound from their last game, a tough divisional-game loss to the Washington Capitals. With the loss, the Panthers fell from 3rd in the East to 9th thanks to the fact that the Caps overtook them for 1st in the Southeast with the victory.
Tonight’s meeting will be the second and final meeting between the Kings and Panthers this season with Los Angeles looking to add to their success against Florida having beaten them 2-1 in Los Angeles back on December 1.
In that game, Mike Richards was injured with a headshot from Sean Bergenheim and was sidelined for the next couple of weeks, as a result. I don’t know if the Kings are out for any type of revenge against Bergenheim but it wouldn’t be the best idea considering the Kings should worry more about scoring goals and winning games. They scored three times in Tampa on Tuesday night and they hope to continue to find the back of the net tonight.
Having gone 3-4-3 in their last ten, Florida hopes to turn a corner. Unfortunately, they’ll have to do it without veterans Ed Jovanovski and Scottie Upshall who are sidelined with a hand injury and a sports injury, respectively.
While Anze Kopitar is hot for the Kings having scored in back-to-back games, Mikael Samuelsson, whose had personal success against Los Angeles, is hot for the Panthers as he has four goals and an assist in his last five outings.
Tonight will be a great chance for the Kings to put together another winning streak. Can they do it? We’ll just have to see.
Enjoy the game!
