As part of the NHL’s annual All-Star Weekend, the players involved participated in the Skills Competition tonight, which included Los Angeles Kings goaltender Jonathan Quick who is part of Team Alfredsson.

Earlier today, Quick was told that he was going to be participating in the goaltenders’ edition of the “Fastest Skater” competition against Detroit’s Jimmy Howard. To the delight of Kings fans, Quick won the competition posting a time 16.939 seconds over Howard’s 17.514.

Jonathan Quick then participated in the “Elimination Shootout” where he stopped three of the four shooters he faced. In the competition, Quick stopped Dallas’ Jamie Benn, Toronto’s Joffrey Lupul and Nashville’s Ryan Suter. Unfortunately, Philadelphia’s Kimmo Timonen was able to score.

Overall, it was Team Alfredsson who prevailed by defeating Team Chara by a score of 21-12. Congratulations to both Jonathan Quick and his team on their win tonight.

Now, it’s onto the actual game itself, which will be tomorrow afternoon at 4pm EST (1pm PST) from Scotiabank Place in Ottawa.
